National Water Quality Assessment Program (NAWQA)

Hudson River Basin Study Unit

Ground Water Status and Trends

A principal goal of the NAWQA program is to understand the condition of our Nation’s ground water. In the 2006 fiscal year, the Hudson River Basin Study Unit will sample ground water from 30 wells across the basin completed in unconsolidated glacial sediments in which water is under artesian pressure. Results from the sampling will be used to assess ground water quality conditions locally, regionally among other NAWQA study units in glaciated terrain, and nationally.

Water Quality Parameter List

Over 200 chemicals and naturally occurring elements and compounds will be tested for in samples collected from each well. Lists of the parameters and reporting limits (RL) can be found by clicking on the general classifications below.
