USGS - Cornell University Collaborative Hydrologic Research Program

On February 11, 1999, a new office building for the U.S. Geological Survey in Ithaca, NY was dedicated to Cornell University Professor Emeritus Walter Lynn. The dedication commemorated the new USGS - Cornell Collaborative Hydrologic Research Program, which focuses on bioremediation of organic contaminants in ground water, climate change, geographic information systems, ground water hydrology, and watershed modeling. Collaborative efforts between Cornell and the USGS are coordinated through the Cornell Center for the Environment. The new program includes joint research between Cornell and USGS scientists, graduate student support by the USGS, sharing of the USGS's extensive database of hydrologic information with Cornell scientists, access by USGS scientists to the wide array of analytical instrumentation at Cornell, and cosponsored seminars.
